Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has called for increased investment in research and development (R&D), emphasising application-oriented research and strategic use of capital. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, he highlighted India's achievement in developing an indigenous end-to-end 4G telecom stack in three and a half years through a government-private sector partnership. The technology is now deployed across more than 100,000 towers, strengthening India's position in global telecom technology and paving the way for an upgrade to 5G.
